WASC Accreditation

All RSM branches in Massachusetts and Washington and most branches in California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Texas, and Virginia, and RSM Online are fully WASC-accredited.

Nearly three quarters of all RSM branches are now fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), ensuring that each aspect of our program has been carefully evaluated against state standards.

What is WASC?

The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC) is a world-renowned accrediting association and one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States that work closely with the Office of Overseas Schools under the U.S. Department of State.

What is WASC Accreditation Status?

The Commission grants a status of accreditation to schools that show a strong correlation to existing student achievement results and current programmatic and operational actions based on the ACS WASC criteria and accreditation status factors noted in the visiting committee report and the visiting committee recommendations.

Why is WASC Accreditation Important?

WASC Accreditation:

  • Assures a school’s community that the school’s purposes are appropriate and being accomplished through a viable education program. In other words, the school is a trustworthy institution for student learning;
  • Validates the integrity of the school’s program and transcripts;
  • Facilitates the transfer of credits to other English-speaking schools, something that is critical for college acceptance worldwide;
  • Provides a process for regularly examining programs, processes, and data around school goals and student learning through data analysis, reflection, inquiry, and dialogue;
  • Builds a professional culture to support the schoolwide action plan;
  • Fosters the continuous improvement of the school’s programs and operations to support student learning;
  • Provides valuable insight from fellow educators visiting the school;
  • And, benefits schools that choose joint accreditation or other collaborative processes, e.g., ACS WASC/HIDOE and ACS WASC and IBO.
